Doing the Tango: Jorge Duque Spring 2017

Colombian designer Jorge Duque presented his creations in Medellín on the opening night of Colombiamoda. The first winner of the Latin American version of Project Runway in 2010, he staged the show among the oak barrels of the Fabrica de Licores de Antioquia distillery.

Duque channeled the romance and rigors of the tango in the reinterpretation of midcentury Bueno Aires, where the dance originated. Florals dominated, particularly roses, in the collection of cocktail attire, ruffled blouses, mini-skirts, and not one, but ten wedding gowns — updated with lean, modern silhouettes.
