RIP Prince

His publicist has confirmed that Prince died this morning in his Minnesota estate, days after he was rushed to the hospital with a severe flu. He had been battling the illness for several weeks.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” the star’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, said in a statement.

The seven-time Grammy winner was aboard his private plane Friday morning, when his condition took a turn for the worse, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Illinois. He was treated for three hours and released.

Prince made a surprise appearance at a dance party on Saturday. Sources say he wanted people to have “living proof” that he is alive, following the plane incident. He didn’t perform, but did tell the crowd, “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers.”
