Raf Simons Won’t Show in Paris
In what seems to be another rejection of the status quo in fashion, Raf Simons has announced the location of his next men’s show, typically held in Paris. In June he’ll decamp for Florence as a guest of the Pitti Immagine Uomo trade show.
Pitti Uomo’s official guest label remains the Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy, who’ll continue to headline the event along with Fausto Puglisi. However, organizers have revealed the apparently recent decision to add the former Dior designer to the program.
Simons is no stranger to Pitti Uomo. He was the featured designer in 2005, on the 10th anniversary of his men’s label, and has held special events there in 2003 and in 2010, when he designed for Jil Sander.
“Florence holds a special place in my heart,” Simons said in a statement. “Over the years, I have regularly come back to show my work or to collaborate on ventures that closely mirrored my thoughts about it. I am thrilled to be there again this season to present my S/S collection as well as a special project we are developing especially for Pitti.”
