Anna Piaggi Jewelry Collection Up for Sale
The fascination with Italian Vogue editor, colorful muse, and unabashed eccentric Anna Piaggi, who died in 2012, shows no signs of letting up.
To coincide with a Milan’s Salone del Mobile furniture fair, former fashion editor JJ Martin has launched vintage e-store LaDoubleJ.com making a 30-piece collection of Piaggi’s jewels available to an adoring public.
“I had the opportunity to interview her a few times while she was alive and even go into her apartment in Milan,” Martin told Vogue.com, “which was this dark, mysterious place brimming with room after room of hidden fashion treasures.” Piaggi’s family reconnected with Martin when they wanted to sell some of her personal jewels.
Many of the 30 necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings are Chanel, personal gifts from Karl Lagerfeld, a longtime friend of Piaggi’s. Not everything is signed, which is typical for designer gifts, according to Martin, “but we’ve had everything authenticated by Deanna Farneti Cera, a preeminent jewelry historian.”
