A stainless-steel Sub-Zero suddenly seems so basic. Dolce & Gabbana has collaborated with Smeg, makers of high-end Italian appliances, to create a limited range of refrigerators hand-painted by Sicilian artists from top to bottom.
How much hand-painting could possibly be needed on these or any fridges? Well, there’s the three-legged Trinacria symbol of Sicily. You obviously want that. You also want medieval battle scenes, marionettes, and rustic wheelbarrows. And naturally a potpourri of Italian fruits. Frankly, however much paint you want to get you to fork over $34k.
Should you need to see one of these souped-up ice boxes in person, head over to Salone del Mobile furniture fair in Milan, where the entire collection will debut on April 13.
