Hide and Seek With the Olsen Twins

In a sardonic indictment of American celebrity, Chicago artist Laura Collins makes voyeuristic paintings of the Olsen twins shielding themselves from the seemingly unwanted attention of the ever-encroaching paparazzi. In vain, they hide behind a fur coat, a Starbucks venti, a croc Birkin, or a Fendi tote.

In an exhibition called, naturally, The Olsen Twins Hiding from the Paparazzi, the paintings will be shown in curators (and comedians) Matt Harkins and Viviana Olen’s makeshift gallery, THNK1994 Museum, in their shared Williamsburg apartment. That’s if they get modest Kickstarter funding. We encourage you to pitch in because we’d really like to answer a phone in the space that asks us if we’d like to take part in the Netflix series Fuller House, to which we’d demur with a groan and cower behind a giant handbag.

Harkins and Olens were also the brains behind last year’s hilarious Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding exhibit, which consisted of kitschy memorabilia of the rival figure skaters. If that’s any indication, the Olsen exhibit will surely be a success of farcical proportions.
