Much has been made of the fact that Kimye and their one-year-old took in the Balenciaga show today (North West’s first fashion show ever!). Which is unfortunate, considering Alexander Wang proved more than capable of carrying the collection on his own, without celebrity tokenism.

Wang deftly blended the refinement and sophistication associated with the house’s founder with the sporty, youthy chic he’s been crafting at his own line back in New York. While some of the looks took on an aggressive Matrix vibe with their mirror-lens racing sunglasses and floor-length sleeveless jackets, several in a head-scratching athletic mesh, many later looks were downright exquisite. Long skirts made of a tactile plastic material resembling fluttering feathers are the kind of gently futuristic fare editors dream of.
