Nude Vivienne Westwood — As a Rug

A month ago, at the Salone del Mobile furniture show in Milan, the Swedish rug company Henzel Studio presented its new range of art rugs, based on works by the likes of Helmut Lang, Anselm Reyle, Richard Prince, Assume Vivid Astro Focus, Scott Campbell, Marilyn Minter, and Jack Pierson. One rug conspicuously absent, however, was Juergen Teller’s. Not because it’s graphic, which it is, but because it wasn’t ready yet. It’s more intricate than the others, thus it took more time to complete, nine months instead of five.

We’re happy to report that the rug-on-a-rug is now ready, as you can see. Barneys is launching the collection tomorrow and will display each rug through June 9, with the exception of Dame Viv. Apparently, despite the store’s daring window displays over the years, Upper East Side shoppers can’t handle a bit of punk punani. If that’s the case, don’t show them the rest of Teller’s series from 2009. Or rather, do!
