Steven Meisel Unveils Fashion Films for Prada and Lanvin

No fewer than three designer fashion films dropped today (Alexander McQueen, Prada, Lanvin). These video add-ons to the respective print campaigns surely mean there’s more to online video than porn.

Steven Meisel is the man behind not one, but two of the films. For Prada, he shot the same group of girls (including Cindy Bruna) as the print campaign. Except that, where they’re aloof in print, for the film component, they goof around, giggle, dodge a ball from an off-screen opponent, throw popcorn, and wear old-school 3-D glasses…

For Lanvin, Meisel leaned more cerebral, icy, and slightly camp. His male and female models eye each other from across a room with intense curiosity while voiceovers deliver sexually suggestive, baking-related lines: “It has a glossy texture, rich and smooth,” “I think it is one of the most exceptional things I’ve ever tried,” and “I love the way it smells as it rises”…
