At Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton and men’s designer Harley Hughes trotted out punk trope after trope. Zippers, kilts, tartans, leather bombers, and, most intriguing all, Lucian Freud prints, stomped out atop double-decker platform shoes in a decrepit old church. Beyond that, the message was coats — big all-engulfing coats, some double-breasted, others belted. There may be no finer a coat come fall.
