Mugler’s New Artistic Director

Following Nicola Formichetti’s departure, a relative unknown has been appointed artistic director of Mugler. London-based, Georgian-born David Koma has been tapped as the house’s women’s designer. Though his own label is only four years old, Koma nonetheless has developed a reputation for graphic yet refined collections.

“I am deeply honored to take up the role of artistic director at Mugler, a house for which I have the utmost admiration and respect,” said the 29-year-old. “For me, Mugler is the most extraordinary fashion house with an undeniably audacious heritage.”

David Koma’s first collection for Mugler will be presented during the resort collections in June 2014 and his first runway show will be held the following September in Paris.
