Jeremy Scott Heads to Moschino

Announced today, Jeremy Scott is the new creative director of Moschino. He succeeds Rossella Jardini, who held the position for 20 years after Franco Moschino’s untimely death in 1994, just ten years after founding the label. His first collection for the Italian house will be fall 2014.

Both Moschino and Jeremy Scott are celebrated for a cheeky irreverence, making the alliance a natural fit. As he told Style.com, “I don’t think I could’ve found a more rebellious brand than Moschino if I tried. It’s so irreverent, things Franco did and things the brand’s continued to do in his name. It’s perfect.” Jeremy says he won’t be giving up his eponymous label, but plans to work from both Milan and his Los Angeles base.

Moschino is no doubt interested in recovering some of its earlier spark by tapping into Jeremy’s celebrity fan base and social-media savvy. Frequently dressing pop stars in his over-the-top designs, he’s already received congratulatory tweets from Rita Ora, Kylie Minogue, and Miley Cyrus.
