Andy Warhol’s Funny Money
As if there aren’t enough Andy Warhol-related projects circulating at any given moment, Half Gallery is giving new currency to the pop artist. The gallery gave ten of their artists original Warhol Ones, the fake $1 bills he had printed in 1971 by the American Banknote Company on the same paper used for actual currency, sans the anti-counterfeit technology of the day.
The funny money was to be used as “source material” for a group show opening today on what would have been Warhol’s 85th birthday. How’s that for paying your respects?
Warhol Ones, through September 4, Half Gallery, 43 East 78th Street
