Nudity Today — and Forever

If the history of human representation has taught us anything, it’s that sex and nudity are popular themes. Not just popular, but perfectly natural. Only hardened prudes would argue there’s anything wrong with a little artful exhibitionism.

And so it is that a group of photographers (between the ages of 20 and 30, roughly) is showcased in a new book of nude photos portraying post-Richardson, post-Teller, post-McGinley scenes of sexually liberated, pot-smoking, pleasure-seeking young adults. But they’re also charming and humorous (a vagina smokes a cigarette!), because sex apps and American Apparel ads have made the sex-trafficky look acceptable. Besides, there’s no visible penetration, so it can’t be called porn, right?

Edited by Jesse Pearson, Nudity Today features the work of Tim Barber, Jordan Bennett, Ren Hang, Jerry Hsu, Sandy Kim, Sasha Kurmaz, Maggie Lee, Nicole Lesser, Aaron McElroy, Lele Saveri, and Aurel Schmidt. Take a look, knowing we chose the more vanilla stuff…
