ARTPOP Has Not Yet Popped

If you thought Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP had already popped, well, it has not. Last night, a year since first announcing it, Gaga spilled more details about the project, which seems more like a giant collab-fest than an album, at a dinner at Gagosian Gallery.

The first single will drop on August 19, an exhibition called artRave will launch on November 10 (and will include collaborations with Marina Abramović, Jeff Koons, Inez & Vinoodh, and Robert Wilson), and the full album will be released on November 11.

There will also be an app — created by the tech arm of Haus of Gaga, TechHAUS — which may or may not be similar to Bjork’s Biophilia app. It’s described as a “reverse Warholian expedition.” To read the official thing about it, you’d think it was the biggest tech invention in music since Dolby.
