Christy Turlington Is Asked Back to Calvin Klein

Today, Cindy Crawford stepped out on the Cannes red carpet, visibly confident that her 47-year-old body would stand the test of time in an unforgiving goddess gown by Roberto Cavalli. It did.

Also today, Christy Turlington was named the “new” face of Calvin Klein. Of course faces usually come with bodies, and it’s expected that both will be in excellent shape when the Mario Sorrenti-lensed campaign reaches magazines in the fall. The 44-year-old mother of two, whose first modeling gig for the house was a 1988 campaign by Irving Penn, replaces Lara Stone, who’s likely worn out from all her non-stop, contractually obligated, busty flawlessness.

These high-fives come the day after Angelina Jolie’s sensational and very brave op-ed in the New York Times detailing her decision to undergo a double mastectomy and urging others to have the test that opened her eyes, saving countless lives. So, a good week for women so far.
