David Bowie has released a new track that, in this virulent YouTube age, is more notable for its video. And in typical Bowie style, there’s a lot of bizarre epicene action going on. Bowie and Tilda Swinton, as ethereal as ever, play an older, home-exercising couple being stalked by Andrej Pejic, a kind of bombshell demon (sporting killer bejeweled claws by Dominic Jones) who eventually converts them into young, hip versions of themselves. Fellow androgyne-models Saskia De Brauw and Iselin Steiro also make cameos as, respectively, another demon and a Stardust-era Bowie. Ultimately, the video confirms two things: first, Ziggy is eternal; second, Bowie and Swinton are not the same person.
