Alber Elbaz Is Skyping You!

Watching Lanvin’s spring campaign video, shot by Steven Meisel, you might think you were getting an incoming Skype call from Alber Elbaz. And you freak because you remember you’re in bed and the remains of take-out are all around. But in fact it’s a recording of his reactions to seeing the video for the first time, unmistakably on Skype with that cutting-off-the-face thing it does. So you settle back in with your sandwich and watch while he watches and coos, “Oh, it’s divine!” and “The perspective is just sick” and “I feel like I’m in a cloud.”

This isn’t the first foray into quirky film-making for the French house. For the fall ’12 campaign, the multi-generational models that season were given speaking roles; for spring ’12, a dinner party was taken over by live snakes; and for fall ’11, Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmermann dork-danced for Meisel’s camera.
