Lena Dunham Dips Into Fashion for Her Next Television Project
The Internet is buzzing (and bitching) with the news that Girls creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner are developing another HBO comedy, according to the entertainment site Deadline. Called “All Dressed Up and Everywhere to Go,” it follows the hilarious haute hijinks of Betty Halbreich, Bergdorf Goodman’s very real and very much employed 85-year-old personal shopper, who we imagine to be a slightly bawdy cross between Diana Vreeland and Lauren Bacall. So the title doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. It’s the title of upcoming memoir and you don’t mess with stuff like that.
Inevitably, online naysayers have been quick to dismiss the project as more privileged schlock from a pay-cable channel. To them we say: Perhaps, but just think of the incredible fashion stories that could be immortalized on the small screen. Also, be glad it isn’t Bergdorf Blondes.
