Lady Gaga tweeted yesterday that she scored 55 items from a Michael Jackson auction over the weekend. At Julien’s in Beverly Hills, the auction took lots of clothing and memorabilia off the hands of Jackson’s personal costume designers, Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins, following their involvement in the Jackson-themed Philip Treacy runway extravaganza at London Fashion Week in September.

Gaga promised to keep her acquisitions “archived and expertly cared for in the spirit and love of Michael Jackson, his bravery and fans worldwide.” Well yeah, we assume so. If she didn’t, what would she wear to the Met Gala in 2014? What are we talking about, you ask? That’s the year we have reason to predict Michael Jackson will be the theme, possibly shattering records set by Alexander McQueen’s Savage Beauty last year. Never mind that it’s thought that the King and Queen of Pop have never met. Who else will carry the larger-than-life superstar torch?
