Lindsay Lohan Sullied a Legend, But Her Costumes Worked

Lindsay Lohan’s Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick last night, a typical Lifetime cheese-fest, wasn’t just a train wreck. It was a train wreck on top of a plane crash, during both an earthquake and a flash flood, while the sun explodes and every other Mayan prophecy plays out in slow motion. At this point, just about the only thing than might have a chance of saving her career is dancing Gangnam Style, and even that only has another ten seconds of relevance.

LiLo’s abominable performance, however, meant a good night for Twitter, where no snark was left unturned—and where, bizarrely, Lindsay’s dad tweeted scripture, adding to the biblical degree of the cataclysm. But here’s the thing: everyone knew it was going to be an unmitigated, not-even-campy disaster. So instead of revisiting her lifeless portrayal that amounted to line-reading or her amateurish attempts at cinematic elocution, let’s instead focus on the one glimmer of redemption: her costumes!
