Bergdorf Goodman Celebrates 111 Years

The Bergdorf Goodman crew hopped across Fifth Avenue last night to celebrate its 111th anniversary with an over-the-top bash at the Park Plaza. It was the first party in more than 60 years for the storied retailer, and it seemed as though everyone in fashion came out for the occasion.

The old guard rubbed elbows with new stars (not to mention the polar bears and reindeer in a winter wonderland decor) under the ballroom’s cottony white clouds: Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, Peter Dundas (with an impeccably styled Rita Ora as his date), Iris Apfel, Joseph Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung, Olivier Theyskens and Georgina Chapman, to name just a few.

Also turned out in the “extraordinary” dress code were a cast of fashion characters, including legions of models hovering around Anna Wintour (in Dior spring 2013). The party was packed for a mass singing of Happy Birthday, and then it was time for dancing. Bergdorf’s Linda Fargo lived it up in a gown printed with the iconic storefront. As the night wound down and the crowd thinned, Olivier Zahm chatted up chicks at the bar while Giovanna Battaglia hammed it up on the stage, camera phones flashing as she swanned into the night.
