Burberry

Christopher Bailey has plenty to celebrate. First, his upcoming nuptials to cutie-pie, ginger-haired actor Simon Woods (who’d be great as Prince Harry in a Lifetime biopic). Then, perhaps owing to his engagement glow, he took to the catwalk with grace and precision today to deliver a radiant spring collection for Burberry, once again cementing Prorsum’s status as London’s undisputed powerhouse.

The premise was simple enough: couture. There was a nod to Balenciaga and Worth, and perhaps also a dash of Raf Simons thrown in, all spun into signature Bailey. The show opened with a stark white cape paired with a blushing maillot, followed by cocoon shapes, dramatic sleeves, cropped proportions, and the house’s trademark trench in a rainbow of bright ombre colors. These were punctuated by synthetic finishes, including humble plastic shaped into capelets and transparent doctor’s bags, as well as iridescent metallics that had a slightly futuristic vibe.

It was a dreamy tour de force—and the honeymoon hasn’t even started.
