Hooked: Dover Street Market for Nike

The 2012 London Olympics gave us many gifts: a Spice Girls reunion, the name Destinee Hooker, Ryan Lochte doing an interview. Here’s one more: a sneaker collaboration between Nike and Dover Street Market. The two giants in their respective field have released a unique collection of Air Force 1s on the 30th anniversary of the classic court shoe.

In navy or ecru, the DSM AF1 features a first for Nike, Ventile, a miracle material that was actually invented in the 1940s as a super-durable cotton weave requiring no waxing or coating. This results in a lighter weight, a slimmer look, and fewer toxins. The tongue, meanwhile, is marked with 17-18, the street number of Comme des Garcons’ Dover Street Market in London.

At Nike Sportswear, 21 Mercer St, NYC, beginning September 6
