Italian powerhouse Ermenegildo Zegna is going global and it has hired Stefano Pilati to lead the way. The family-owned company based in Milan confirmed today that the 8-year creative director of YSL, who stepped down in March, will head up its high-end men’s line founded in 1910, as well as its bespoke-level Couture line and luxury women’s collection Agnona. The appointments are effective as of January 1, 2013.

“I’m thrilled to have Stefano in our Group as he brings great talent, invaluable experience and enormous enthusiasm,” CEO Gildo Zegna said in a statement. “We have ambitious plans for Agnona, and we strongly believe that under his creative leadership we will be able to develop this little jewel into a global brand.”
