Filmmaker Albert Maysles—of Grey Gardens fame—has quite a handful with his latest subject, Iris Apfel, the 91-year-old accessories designer, textile specialist, and fashion icon. The Rara Avis, as she was dubbed in a 2005 Met exhibition of her personal style and private collection, is beloved for her superannuated eclecticism stoked by a childlike curiosity. As she would say, she’s a “geriatric starlet.”

She also, we might add, has more get-up-and-go than a Red Bull-bonging teenager. This unrelenting stamina of hers is on display in this meaty trailer for the upcoming documentary. She can be seen perusing acres of racks, giving a motivational speech, accepting an award, selling her jewelry on the Home Shopping Network, and hanging out with Alexander Wang and Alexis Bittar on the red carpet. Okay, so it’s a synopsis of the film, but still…
