Barneys Will Soon Be the Happiest Store On Earth
After going Gaga last Christmas, Barneys is out to please the whole family by teaming up with Disney for an “Electric Holiday” this year.
The themed windows will transport Mickey and friends to Paris, where they will star in their very own fashion show. According to a press release, the cartoon cast will be “transformed from their traditional Disney form into dream-like fashion-forward runway mode,” which means they’ll be tall and thin and decked out in custom looks from Balenciaga, Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Proenza Schouler, and Rick Owens.
The images released so far show a stretched-out Minnie in Lanvin, Goofy in Balmain, and Daisy Duck in D&G. While the windows won’t be unveiled until November 14, we can imagine the other possibilities: Mickey in drapey Rick Owens, Snow White toting a PS1, and surely fur for the chicest of them all, Cruella de Vil.
Along with the windows, other Disney-fied touches will include a gift boutique filled with mouse ears from L’Wren Scott and Rag & Bone and collectible characters by Diane von Furstenberg and Paul Smith.
