Carine Roitfeld Is Not a Nymphomaniac But Does Interviews In a Negligee
Our favorite editrix-in-chief is packing a one-two punch for September with the much-anticipated release of her new print venture, CR Fashion Book, as well as an exclusive make-up line for MAC Cosmetics—just in time for Homecoming!
The recipe is a familiar one—sex, sex, sex—but as the Daily Telegraph reports, Roitfeld doesn’t want you to get the wrong idea. “Maybe I seem crazy because of some pictures, but I’ve never been a nymphomaniac.” The fact she says this while in a negligee on a leather couch doesn’t help her case, but then again, how many 57-year-olds can do this without the Diane Arbus subtext?
Always thinking of her readers, Roitfeld is full of helpful tips to achieve her signature look (are you taking notes, Taylor Momsen?). These include do-it-at-home tricks like “always put on your black make-up, but not very well.” Another secret: “the trick is always a little bit destroy.” And forget about those eye infections, because a true Carine girl will suffer for her smoky eyes: “It’s bad to wear your make-up overnight, but it is bound to look better the next morning.” Zut alors!
The MAC campaign, shot by Mario Sorrenti, will feature moody black-and-white shots of the woman who once ran an editorial of models peeing behind cars, based on her own parking-lot emergencies. How can you not love her?
Get all of Carine Roitfeld’s beauty tips—and unintended sex advice—when the line hits counters in October.
