Serge Lutens is the Bell of Barneys
In 1992 the parfumeur Serge Lutens opened a store in Paris’ Jardin du Palais Royal, destination shopping for those—visitors, mostly—seeking his signature cloche (“bell”) bottles and the fine fragrances they contained. Displaying a Serge Lutens cloche on one’s vanity signified a trip to the Palais Royal boutique, the only place the curvy glass jars could be found.
Until now. Those cloches have made their way to U.S. shores with the newly expanded Serge Lutens boutique in the hallowed beauty department of Barneys New York, where some three dozen scents are on gleaming display. In addition, Barneys has dedicated a phone line—212-833-2425—for those overwhelmed by the possibilities.
