Hooked: Gripoix X Catherine Baba
An elaborate bejeweled headpiece, just one of the pieces from Catherine Baba’s collection for Gripoix bijoux, is inspired by Aubrey Beardsley’s illustration of Sarah Bernhardt in Oscar Wilde’s Salomé. It’s made of 24K gold-plated molten glass and covers the head. That should give you an idea of the over-the-top opulence—over-the-topulence?—found in the first jewelry collection from the Australian-French stylist and costume designer with a penchant for turbans and vintage YSL. Necklaces, rings, earrings and pendants are equally baroque, each named after a goddess somewhere in the world, somewhere in time.
