Something Different: Missoni for David

Michelangelo’s David has hardly needed clothing, content to bask in his High-Renaissance marble nudity for centuries. But if he were to be dressed in a designer bodysuit, why not Missoni?

On June 22, a steel, fiberglass and polyester zigzag replica of the statue—a collaboration between the Spanish artist Eladio de Mora (dEmo) and Luca Missoni—arrived in New York, following exhibits in Madrid and Barcelona. Standing five meters tall, and in the same dimensions as the original, the piece was installed on West 14th Street in the Meatpacking District, where it will remain until September.
