Lady Gaga’s Struggle with Fame

It seems like forever ago that news broke of Lady Gaga’s first foray into fragrance, with its rumored notes of blood and semen. Now, finally, we have a sneak peek of the potion, Fame. And you can thank social-media over-sharing for the premature release. “Looks like photos of my perfume are being leaked,” Gaga tweeted yesterday as she posted the photo herself. “Oh you fashion editors I could just crinkle my hands at you!”

But while there are no signs it’ll contain bodily fluids of any sort, the inky black juice does, curiously, contain “tears of belladonna” and other notes of intrigue like “crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops.” That’s according to the ingredients list on the back of the box. (We also learned, from a post that appeared on Gaga’s website today, that the bottle was designed by Nick Knight and the ad campaign was shot by Steven Klein.)

But perhaps most curiously, the perfume is said to lose all of its blackness the moment it leaves the bottle and hits the air (not unlike Boudicca’s Wode fragrance). Fame is, after all, fleeting.
