The Devil Wears Sequel
In a recent late-night interview, Anna Wintour quipped to Stephen Colbert that The Devil Wears Prada is “so last year.” Well, author Lauren Weisberger must not have set her DVR, because she’s planning a sequel to the blockbuster roman à clef, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Titled Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, the book meets up with go-getting assistant Andrea Sachs eight years after her unceremonious exit from Mode magazine. Never mind that she quit to do serious reporting. She’s back in the magazine biz as the editor of a bridal rag and busy planning a wedding of her own—and apparently still traumatized by memories of her old boss.
The book is set to hit shelves in April 2013, ten years after readers first met editrix Miranda Priestly and just in time to be next year’s hottest beach read among frazzled fashion assistants everywhere. The only question left is: how long until it’s turned into another secret sick-day flick? And will the Meryl Streep–Stanley Tucci dreamteam return to skew career dreams for another generation of interns?
