Hedi Slimane Keeps the Press at Bay

While fans of Hedi Slimane’s long and lean style eagerly await the designer’s return to Yves Saint Laurent, this time designing women’s, it appears they may have to wait a little longer. In a move that echoes Tom Ford’s return to fashion, the designer has decided to show his new collections to a small and select group, according to WWD. Taking Ford’s approach further, he’s banning all press, opening his “transitional” first presentations—women’s resort and men’s spring—to buyers only. While we’re sure he’ll work something out with the major editors to give the clothes some ink, mere mortals will have to wait months longer until the clothes show up in print. Or until Slimane’s spring 2013 runway show at this fall’s Paris Fashion Week.
