Sitting right next to each other in Tokyo’s Ginza district, Uniqlo and the new Dover Street Market couldn’t offer a better picture of the dual retail climate in Japan, where shoppers are both insatiable for fast-fashion and zen-like in their quest for conceptual fashion. In fact the two stores are linked on the inside. So while little is known about the only DSM location outside of London, other than the list of inaugural collaborators—i.e. A Bathing Ape, Alexander McQueen, mastermind JAPAN, Raf Simons, Undercover, YSL—the opening on March 16 suggests that the Japanese really do have it all.
