The Man Who Fell to Earth is officially a senior citizen today, but it would take a lot more than arthritic onset and pension checks to depose David Bowie from the pantheon of musical greats.

Fans worldwide wasted no time in celebrating decades’ worth of unadulterated glam-stomping, gender-bending magic. Possibly the only thing that usurped the subject of Bowie’s birthday on social media, particularly in the UK, was artist Ed Chapman’s stone mosaic of Ziggy Stardust’s likeness. Which is to say, it was all about Bowie. So while he may now be able to ride the Tube for free, put the ageless icon onstage and it’s like no time has passed at all. Happy 65th, you old Diamond Dog.
