Two years ago the designers behind the German men’s label A Kind of Guise visited the Middle East on what was supposed to be a holiday, but which turned into a crazy obsession when they fell in love with the carpets (or kilim) they discovered. They decided to collect a few, but found themselves hoarding 50 carpets from nearly every country around the Persian Gulf, some of them dating back to the early 19th century.
Meticulously selected and hauled off to Germany in what became the Kilim Project, the rugs were then fashioned into this vibrant collection of 100 one-of-a-kind bags. Each Kilim knapsack comes with a leather bottom, an inside pocket and cotton strap.
