Vivienne Westwood Puts Her Money (a Lot!) Where Her Mouth Is
Never shy of making her political views known, Vivienne Westwood has reportedly invested an unbelievable £1 million into the rainforest charity Cool Earth. With 90% of the World Bank’s funds for rainforest projects going unspent, the campaign No Fun Being Extinct aims to secure three of the world’s most at-risk areas, demonstrating how quickly money can make a positive impact on the environment.
“Cool Earth has a plan to save the rainforest. If we don’t save the rainforest, forget it!” says Westwood. “I am personally supporting Cool Earth and investing in our future. I’m inviting anyone interested in saving our beautiful world to join me.” Fashion heavyweights Kate Moss, Lily Cole and Sadie Frost have indeed signed on to the cause, which has already protected 2.5 million acres of vulnerable rainforest since its launch in 2007.
