Who Needs Santa When You Have Lady Gaga?

As if holiday shopping in New York weren’t already a monster migraine, pop an extra Klonopin, because this season Gaga is coming to town.

Gaga’s Workshop, a multi-faceted holiday celebration, will officially launch at Barneys New York at 11:59 pm on November 21 and remain open all night through November 22, then operate under normal store hours.

A spin on Santa’s Workshop, the project—the largest in the retailer’s history, taking over the entire fifth floor of the Madison Avenue men’s division—has been realized through the eyes of several creative talents: Lady Gaga herself, Nicola Formichetti, Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide Pierson of the art collective Assume Vivid Astro Focus, and Barneys’ creative director Dennis Freedman.

After entering the Workshop through a giant Gaga-mouth facade, you’ll find art installations and elaborate mini-boutiques, such as an oversized wig housing a giant Gaga-turned-spider jewelry shop. In keeping with the spirit of giving, 25% of all sales will be donated to the Born This Way Foundation, recently founded by the pop phenomenon and her mother to focus on youth empowerment.

To amp it up even more, Barneys has established 12 Days of Gaga, a digital countdown of the unveiling. On each of the twelve days leading up to the opening, one item will be available for pre-sale on the Workshop’s micro-site. We wouldn’t expect any geese-a-laying or french hens. Then again, with Gaga, you never know.
