Now that he’s proven himself to be a credible, bankable visionary with a MoMA exhibit under his belt, they’ve corrected their grave mistake, financing his latest stop-motion, feature-length masterpiece. Frankenweenie—which Burton originally created as a short in 1984 and which, despite its name, is not the tale of penis-enlargement surgery gone horribly wrong—takes the classic boy and his dog story and twists it within an inch of its stitched-together life.
