Money Where Your Mouse Is: Iris Apfel

The inimitable Iris Apfel, one of fashion’s most eccentric living legends, has created a line of statement jewelry for Yoox.com. Now in her 80s, Apfel is every bit the style maven she’s always been, her diminutive frame still draped in oversized baubles. Her designs for Yoox.com are as colorful and unique as Apfel herself, broken down into three categories: collection (new ready-to-wear, responsibly sourced, $45-525), limited-edition (exclusive high-end pieces, $1,195–2,800), and personal (one-of-a-kind pieces from her private collection, $695–3,500).

In a tribute to the creative genius, a gathering of influential filmmakers, designers, editors and other tastemakers dubbed the “Iris Lovefest” have gathered to endorse the venture. These include Bruce Weber, Bill Cunningham, Linda Fargo, Harold Koda, and Ari Cohen. They’ll be the first to vouch for the precious stones, wood, jade, bone, and metallic resin pieces. For us though, the standout is a pair of crystal cluster drop earrings with dangling Buddha heads.
