Girls On Film

More and more fashion films are popping up all the time. Just last night, effectively launching Paris Fashion Week, Proenza Schouler premiered an offbeat short film called Snowballs at David Lynch’s new Silencio club. Created by indie filmmaker and Kids screenwriter Harmony Korine, the video features the fall 2011 collection—with its splashes of bright Navajo patterns on drippy brocades, full-length skirts and drop-crotch trousers—against an eerie-cool soundtrack that includes lyrics like “We dance on raindrops” and “I can crush a whole tree in my hand.” The two young, sometimes topless protagonists sport Native American headdresses and loiter around an unspecified patch of backwoods looking very out of place—and all the more chic for it…

Meanwhile, Inez + Vinoodh created this playful little vignette for Pierre Balmain, Balmain’s new second line, featuring a very blonde Abbey Lee as she traipses about New York City like a modern-day Nico, alongside her boyfriend Matthew Hutchinsonband, who also happens to be the front man of their band, Our Mountain. The full version of the film will debut at the Pierre Balmain presentation on Sunday…
