D&G Is Kaput
Hope you enjoyed today’s D&G show, because it’s the last. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana finally confirmed that they’re dropping the diffusion line, a rumor that had been bandied about since March. Or rather, they’re merging it with the main line, which the designers said will give “even more strength and energy to our collections.” Basically, it’s dead.
No one can say for certain why the labeled folded, news that came as a surprise to retailers, considering the success it found in Asia and Russia. Some claim that because the price points of the two lines were similar, they were cannibalizing each other’s business. Whatever the reason, we’re sad to see D&G go; the runway shows were always a hoot to watch.
