Siki Im
Perhaps feeling increased scrutiny after winning the 2010 Ecco Domani award for Best Menswear, for spring designer Siki Im decided to shake things up a bit by ditching the installation/presentation route of seasons past and heading for the runway.
Staged in a bare-bones space in Soho, Im’s collection was based on the theme of Middle East meets West and the ongoing revolution overseas. Harem pants and tunics were paired with that all-American staple, denim, shown here with rolled cuffs, while structured blazers and button-downs are sure to please the less-progressive customer. Military accents were seen in almost uniform-looking surplus ensembles and the bespectacled boys’ slicked-back coifs rounding out a collection that we think might just be his best yet.
