Marc Jacobs Might Take the Dior Job No One Else Wants

Marc Jacobs is the next superstar designer reported to be in the running for the elusive Christian Dior design position, which is becoming the great white whale of fashion. Unseating Jacobs from his thrown at Louis Vuitton could be an exciting development, and very plausible considering his contract there is about to expire. And it would, of course, pave the way for Phoebe Philo to depart Celine and replace Jacobs at Vuitton, another major shake-up for the LVMH family.

But the question remains: Does anyone even want the job? Alber Elbaz, Nicolas Ghesquiere, Azzedine Alaïa, Sarah Burton, Hedi Slimane, Olivier Theyskens and Haider Ackermann have reportedly already turned it down. After all, six plus collections a year is no easy feat, and LVMH boss Bernard Arnault is notoriously critical. Someone needs to sign a contract soon though. Who wants to see Bill Gaytten taking another round of vicious reviews?
