The Japanese have an unquenchable thirst for iconic American brands, which makes the just-announced sponsor of Uniqlo’s annual T-shirt contest a perfect, and refreshing, fit. Following Barbie and Disney, Coca-Cola has been named both the partner and inspiration of Uniqlo’s UT Grand Prix, now in its eighth year. Using T-shirts as a blank canvas, contestants are asked to create designs inspired by the beloved beverage. Not only will the first-place winner take home a cool $10,000, but the winning ten T-shirt designs will appear in Uniqlo stores worldwide, including the new New York global flagship, opening this fall on Fifth Avenue. But don’t delay; the contest ends September 12.
