Gays Will Marry in New York State—If Fashion Has Anything to Do With It

Following Anna Wintour‘s video testimonial and Kenneth Cole‘s racy slogan tee, Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Levi’s are the latest fashion players to support the Human Rights Campaign (HRC)—the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil-rights organization—and its New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign. All three have installed window displays advocating a gay-marriage bill on which the State Senate is expected to vote later this week, having already passed the House.

“I believe that votes will be there for marriage equality,” said Andrew Cuomo in a press conference today. The Democratic governor has made same-sex marriage a top priority of his administration. If the measure passes, New York will become the sixth and most populous state in the country to allow gay marriage.
