Hooked: Louis Vuitton
If fashion is about finding yourself, then the question remains: where? Of course Louis Vuitton is all about travel, and its collaboration with Belgian photographer and collage artist François Cadière continues the journey. Cadière was invited to illustrate the fall 2011 Textile collection of scarves, stoles and shawls. Previous Textiles collections have ventured to exotic locales such as Russia and Japan, but Cadière whisks us off to familiar and gritty Berlin, where we find street-art influences and a touch of surrealism in the artist’s hand-painted patterns and torn, superimposed posters. Still, there are elements that are unmistakably Vuitton: leopard, monogram flowers, hearts, and the zebra print from Marc Jacobs’ spring collection for the house. Frequent Flyer miles not included.
