Hooked: Marc Jacobs
Those who were swirling about and hustling (the dance, we mean!) in the seventies don’t always, ahem, recall it very clearly. Still, through all the smoke, what everyone seems to remember are the sharp, rich colors that dominated the days and nights. A teenager then, Marc Jacobs seems to be feeling nostalgic for the era, at least with his handbag offerings for spring. Take, for instance, the Black Orchid “Bamboo,” available in cognac or brown, with pink highlights and gold hardware. It has a lively, heady personality, so you can trust it to do all the talking. The “Luisa,” meanwhile, features a mix of python and suede, for the moodier set. And finally, in colors from stone to black, the Wellington, well, the Wellington is the dependable carryall, the designated driver of the bunch. $1,195 – $1,995 at Marc Jacobs stores and select US retailers.
