Here’s a classic tale of turning a frown upside down. Paris-based perfumer Libertin Louison, creator of the lavender Technique Indiscrete scent, found himself in an unseemly situation when one of his clients reneged on an order just before the devastating earthquake that struck Japan last week. Left with 1000 bottles, he decided to help the victims of the natural disaster, revamping the flacon and packaging, and changing the name to For Them. All proceeds—yes, 100%—from sales of the limited-edition eau de cologne (€35) will be donated to the inhabitants of Kanku, a town that was severely hit by the tsunami. Libertin has been working with a perfume factory there for the past two years, hence his decision to help this particular town. A 10% discount will be given to the first 100 customers.
